Looking forward to our Fall activities. As we continue with our Journeys Reading Program, we will be meeting our alphafriends for each letter of the alphabet through song and rhyme as the school year progresses. Our Fall fun activites will begin with learning our color word black and creating spooky spider handprints! We will also be making leaf handprints to enhance our classroom! As Fall marches on, we will create Spookly the Square Pumpkin , reinforcing our shapes and building strength in our fingers and hands for fine motor writing skills by ripping pieces of orange paper for Spookly! Next we will create our Scarecrow face along with a spooky handprints activity for visual discrimination. We will be introduced to the Venn Diagram and label parts of a bat. Our bats will hang proudly on a branch which will be labeled "We are Batty for Kindergarten!" Our goal is tactile and fine motor growth.
As November comes upon us, we wll begin working on our attire for our Thanksgivng Feast with First Grade! We are the Native Americans and First Grade are the Pilgrims. The boys will decorate and fringe their vests with Native American symbols as the girls will do the same on their skirts! We will dot paint a color ribbon stick and learn a song to sing before our Feast, using our lollipop drum, rainsticks and tamborine! We will decorate our placemats for our Feast and continue by making sure our Native American Headpieces are colorful to go with our attire! We will learn about the Native Americans, Squanto and the Pilgrims and how they shared their knowledge with each other to create the first Thanksgiving. To end our Fall activities, we will be working on a Thanksgiving Recipe Book on " How to Bake a Turkey", something to cherish and share with family during Thanksgiving!
So, on to a very busy and fun Fall!
